Orlando Brown, who played for the Baltimore Ravens from 1996 to 1998 and then again in 2003 to 2005, was found dead in his downtown Baltimore apartment this morning. He was 40 years old.
Those who were at the scene say there appears to be no foul play involved.
Brown’s height and weight, 6’7″ and 370 pounds during his playing days, certainly can allow one to point a finger toward a heart attack or something of that nature.
Many know Brown from his infamous 1999 altercation with NFL referee Jeff Triplette. Triplette threw a weighted penalty flag that struck Brown in the eye. Before being taken back to the locker room for further evaluation, Brown shoved Triplette to the ground, causing an ejection and a suspension from the NFL.
Brown ended up missing three seasons as a result of the eye injury and sued the NFL, receiving a reported $25 million settlement.
