As confirmed by the Baltimore Orioles organization, former pitcher, coach, and television analyst Mike Flanagan was found dead outside his Sparks, Maryland home on Wednesday afternoon. He was 59.
Police had initially reported finding a body outside his house at around 4:30 on Wednesday, but declined to release the identity.
Flanagan pitched 15 of his 18 seasons for the Baltimore Orioles, winning 23 games in 1979 and taking home the American League Cy Young Award. He ended his career with a 167-143 record with 141 of those wins coming with the Orioles.
After retiring in 1992, Flanagan held various jobs with the Orioles including pitching coach, general manager, and broadcaster.
